Full Sign-Up Guidelines and Assignments Heads Up

And here we are with a slightly expanded sign-up requirements/assignment heads up post. If you have any questions, let me know. If I've forgotten anything that you'd like details on, let me know. You can contact the mod via e-mail (litgirlnicole@gmail.com) or by PM on Dreamwidth at spookykingdomstarlight.dreamwidth.org or even IM me on the swrarepairs tumblr or comment on this post, whichever is easiest/most comfortable for you.

Sign-ups start on Wednesday, September 21st by 8AM PDT and assignments will go out by Sunday, October 2nd.

Sign-Ups
1. The most important thing for signing up is having an A03 account. If you don't have one, you won't be able to participate.

2. You will be able to make between 3 and 10 requests. Each request must include 1-2 relationships and at least one medium (fic, art, or vid). Additionally, you will have to make between 4 and 10 offers. Each offer must include 1-2 relationships and at least one medium (also fic, art, or vid). You can request/offer any combination of mediums.

2a. Please only request and offer ships you would like to receive gifts of or create gifts for.

2b. If you have only 3 requests and/or 4 offers you'd like to make, you will have to include only one ship per request to reach the minimum.

3. Your sign-up should automatically populate the fandom field with Star Wars - All Media Types and all you'll have to do is tick the check box next to it. If it does not, please contact the mod.

4. If the pairing you wish to request or offer doesn't show in the drop-down menu in the relationship field of your sign-up, please copy/paste that tag from the tag set into the relationship field to ensure it matches.

5. If you do nothing else, please include your DNWs (do not wants) in the optional details box. This can include triggers, squicks, tropes, or other content that would upset you or is a surefire dislike for you. This is both to let me know what I need to check your gift for once it's submitted and to let your creator know what they should stay away from when creating your gift. If you don't have any DNWs, you aren't required to include any.

5a. On the other hand, please don't use DNWs to artificially constrict what your creator can create for you. For example, don't list "everything except 14th century historical AUs" as a DNW, which would force your creator to create only a 14th century historical AU for you to the exclusion of all else. That's not fair. It's a bad faith use of DNWs and I won't force your creator to abide by it.

6. In addition to DNWs, the optional details box is great for giving your creator an idea of what you would like to receive from them. Please consider using it. Creators are not obligated to follow these optional details. They're only required to create a work about a ship you've both matched on and that respects your DNWs, but optional details are immensely useful and often result in a work well-tailored to your tastes.

7. Dear creator letters are also a wonderful way to expand on the things you like about a relationship and ideas you'd love to see explored. They're just like the optional details box, except more thorough. These aren't mandatory, but as an exchange participant, I can tell you they're great tools and are a lot of fun to create and read. If you create one (on DW, LJ, tumblr, google docs or somewhere else altogether), link to it in your sign-up.

7a. If you make a letter and you're hosting it on tumblr, please don't change your tumblr handle until after the end of the exchange OR make sure your old url redirects to your new url, so that the link to your letter doesn't break. This link may help you with that, but as I've never bothered to change my username on tumblr and host my own letters on Dreamwidth, I've never had to do this, so I'm not sure. If anyone who knows more about this would like to weigh in, I'd love any insights. I just know I've occasionally come across broken links to letters on tumblr and it's not much fun when you're excited to see someone's letter and no longer can.

7b. If you make a letter and host it on DW/LJ, please make sure it's public once assignments go out.

7c. Placeholder letters are useful when you're signing up, but please make sure they're filled out by the time assignments go out so your creator doesn't have false hopes in their hearts of a letter than never gets finished.

8. One last thing regarding optional details/letters: when writing these, don't pinpoint certain ships as the ones you want to receive more than the rest. If you aren't equally excited to receive content for every ship you request, then I'd suggest not signing up to receive that ship. That doesn't mean you need to have the same number of prompts/ideas/things you love about every ship, but it's no fun to see you've matched someone on a ship they don't seem to really want works for.

9. You will be able to edit your sign-up until sign-ups close. After that, you won't be able to change it.

10. In the event you are unmatchable on requests and offers, the mod will ask you if you'd like to add any ships to your sign-up.

11. This is a ship exchange. All works created should center around a ship of some sort, whether romantic or sexual or both. They can be the G-est of G-rated fic all the way to the incredibly explicit. They can include unrequited love, established relationships, getting together, not getting together, but wanting to get together, pre-relationship, whatever (so long as it doesn't interfere with a DNW). But they cannot be about the ship you're matching on being best friends forever/worst enemies always/mediocre acquaintances sometimes who feel no attraction to one another. So keep that in mind when you sign up and when you get your assignment.

Assignments

1. Don't talk about your assignment in namespace until after creator reveals. This will be on November 26 at 8PM PST unless otherwise noted by the mod.

2. All works must be posted on AO3. At that point, you may share them elsewhere.

3. Please don't share your work early.

4. If your assignment is incorrect in some way (for example, you've matched with someone who is requesting none of the ships you're offering), please contact the mod.

5. Please make sure your creation meets the minimum requirements (fic: at least 1000 words, art: 500,000px, detailed line work, vids: 1:30).

6. Don't create a work that includes your recipients DNWs.

7. You are only guaranteed to match on one pairing and one creative medium.
